The Constitution of the Republic of Estonia Amendment Act

The people of Estonia, on the basis of § 162 of the Constitution, by a referendum held on 14 September 2003, adopted the following Act to amend the Constitution of the Republic of Estonia:
§ 1. Estonia may belong to the European Union, proceeding from the fundamental principles of the Constitution of the Republic of Estonia.
§ 2. Upon Estonia’s membership in the European Union, the Constitution of the Republic of Estonia shall be applied taking into account the rights and obligations arising from the treaty of accession.
§ 3. This Act can be amended only by a referendum.
§ 4. This Act shall enter into force three months after the date of its promulgation.
